August 2026 Switch Lineup: FFX/X-2 Remaster, Elden Ring, MGS Vol.2
Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has spotlighted the key titles arriving for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in August 2026, and the lineup is packed across every genre. The month’s highlights include FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster, ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition, and METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2, alongside fresh releases such as Cotton Rock With You, Starsand Island, and Captain Tsubasa 2 World Fighters. The schedule runs in three waves: new and classic entries land on August 6, mid-month titles follow on August 20, and the late-August blockbusters arrive between August 27 and 28. Several Switch 2 editions come with exclusive additions, while most titles also ship for PlayStation and PC platforms.
FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster launches on Switch 2 on August 27 at ¥7,480 (~$50/~¥360), bundling both RPG classics with HD graphics, remastered BGM, International version content, and boost features that adjust game speed and encounter rates. The same day brings METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2 (¥6,600, ~$44), which compiles MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, Peace Walker HD, and Ghost Babel. On August 28, ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition arrives on Switch 2 at ¥9,020 (~$60), including the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, four new armor sets, two new origins, and Torrent customization. Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition also launches that day for ¥3,990 (~$27), running at 60fps in TV and handheld modes and adding Vergil, the Cavaliere R weapon, and five Devil Breakers.
Super Bomberman Collection arrives on August 27 for ¥5,478 (~$37), bundling seven entries from the Bomberman and Super Bomberman series with a boss rush mode, save-anywhere and rewind functions, a gallery of over 200 pieces of material, and a music player. STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT revives the acclaimed science-adventure classic on August 20 at ¥7,480 (~$50), featuring fully re-recorded voices, a BGM remake by composer Takeshi Abo, redrawn art with roughly double the event stills, and new world lines and endings. The ROUTE16 Collection also gathers the 1980s car-chase series for ¥5,478 (~$37), including brand-new ROUTE16R, which introduces robot transformation and four-player local multiplayer for the first time in the series.
August 6 brings Cotton Rock With You (¥6,380, ~$43), the 35th-anniversary shoot-’em-up featuring ten playable characters and 16 route-selectable stages, plus the new ROUTE16R and the retro ROUTE16TURBO. On August 20, farm-life simulator Starsand Island (¥7,018, ~$47) offers a Taoism-inspired island with a detailed affinity system, while Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeon Boost (¥5,280, ~$35) adds roguelite dungeons and includes the 1994 arcade original. Captain Tsubasa 2 World Fighters closes out the month on August 27 with 22 national teams, over 110 playable characters, and more than 150 new moves. With this density of releases, Switch 2 owners will have no shortage of choices — the FFX/X-2 and Elden Ring editions alone make August a month to watch.
