August 2026 PS5 Games: Beast of Reincarnation and Steins;Gate Reboot
Famitsu has highlighted the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 titles arriving in August 2026, and it is a crowded month. Headliners include Beast of Reincarnation, a brand-new action RPG from Game Freak; STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, a full remake of the acclaimed science-adventure classic; and METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2. The schedule also packs in a Marvel tag-team fighter, a new Captain Tsubasa soccer game, a Star Wars turn-based strategy, plus retro collections and a lifestyle sim spread across Switch, Xbox, and PC.
Beast of Reincarnation launches August 4 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at ¥8,980 (~$62 / ~¥445). Set in a ruined Japan in 4026, the action RPG follows Emma, a girl shunned as an impure one, and the corrupted hound Quu as they hunt the beasts of reincarnation consuming the world. Combat blends Emma’s real-time sword action with Quu’s command-based RPG skills, with new techniques unlocked through battles with powerful foes. STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT follows August 20 across Switch 2, Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at ¥7,480 (~$52 / ~¥370) packaged or ¥6,380 (~$44 / ~¥315) as a download. All voices were re-recorded, composer Takeshi Abo remade the BGM, art was redrawn from line art, and E-mote animation brings richer expressions and gestures.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a 4v4 tag-team fighter from PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games, arrives on PS5 and PC on August 7 for ¥7,980 (~$55 / ~¥395), featuring an episode mode and 64-player open lobbies. Captain Tsubasa 2 WORLD FIGHTERS ships August 27 on Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at ¥8,470 (~$58 / ~¥420), offering 22 national teams, over 110 playable characters, and more than 150 new moves. Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player turn-based strategy from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games, launches August 28 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at ¥8,400 (~$58 / ~¥420).
METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2 bundles MGS4, Peace Walker (HD), and Ghost Babel with digital scenario books, master books, and soundtracks on August 27 for ¥6,600 (~$46 / ~¥330) across Switch 2, Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Cotton Rock’n’Roll marks the shooting series’ 35th anniversary on August 6 (Switch 2/PS5/PC, ¥6,380 / ~$44) with 10 playable characters and 16 stages, while Sunsoft’s ROUTE16TURBO revives the 1985 car-chase classic the same day for ¥1,540 (~$11). Super Bomberman Collection (August 27, ¥5,478 / ~$38) gathers seven entries, and Taoist-inspired life sim Starsand Island arrives August 20 (¥7,018 / ~$48). Brigandine Abyss (August 27, ¥9,020 / ~$62) and Patlabor the Case Files (August 31, ¥6,380 / ~$44) complete the schedule. With so much variety, August 2026 is shaping up as a standout month.
