Yifang Xiangyao Lu Demo Launches with Roguelike Dungeon Exploration

Developer YiFang Studio and publisher 2P Games have released a playable demo for Yifang Xiangyao Lu (One Side Demon Record), a roguelike dungeon exploration RPG set in a Chinese fantasy xianxia world. The demo grants access to the game’s first three dungeon levels, each of which is procedurally generated to ensure no two runs play the same way. Every time players enter a dungeon, the layout, enemy placement, items, and traps all shift, making it impossible to rely on memorized patterns or simple level grinding for success. The game emphasizes tactical thinking and adaptability over raw stats.
The game employs an immediate turn-based system where enemies react instantly after the player makes a move. Monsters will actively pursue the player, block off routes, and even coordinate with each other to set up ambushes. Players must constantly assess their surroundings and plan their next steps carefully, choosing between direct confrontation, luring enemies into traps, or retreating to find a better opportunity. The system rewards quick decision-making and careful observation of enemy behavior patterns.

A wide variety of magical artifacts allow for flexible combat strategies. The gourd can both launch offensive spells and absorb enemies directly; tokens can be thrown for ranged damage; the ruyi scepter weakens foes; and blank talismans can be turned into different types of spell charms at the cost of health. Players can mix and match these tools to create their own combat style. The demo features over a hundred equipment pieces and magical artifacts to discover across the procedurally generated dungeons.

The game introduces lightweight mechanics that make the roguelike genre more accessible to newcomers. A fullness meter allows gradual health regeneration while moving, enabling players to recover by maneuvering strategically. Even after being defeated, players can reclaim core equipment and quickly get back into action instead of starting from scratch. Outside the dungeon, a camp system lets players upgrade gear, inherit special traits to craft powerful weapons, permanently boost stats through meals, and create consumable items like herbal mixtures. The full game will feature additional environments such as abandoned villages, river islands, and bamboo forests as the story progresses. This demo is currently available on PC platforms, with the game scheduled to participate in an upcoming new product showcase in June.
