VR Kanojo Update Adds PC Hand Tracking, 35% Off Anniversary Sale
Japanese developer ILLUMINATION released the v1.2.0 major update for its VR romance simulation VR Kanojo (VRな彼女) on July 31, 2026, exactly one year after the title launched on July 31, 2025. The centerpiece of the anniversary update is PC hand tracking support, letting players set down their controllers and touch the heroine with their own hands. The update also improves overall performance and stability, and expands the VRM avatar system to cover the male partner character as well as the heroine.
The new hand tracking works across Meta Quest and PICO headsets, with compatibility verified on Quest 2, Quest 3S, and PICO 4. Alongside the controller-free touch mechanics, ILLUMINATION states that performance and stability have been significantly improved, including faster startup, reduced stuttering, and greater stability during extended play sessions. These changes are intended to refine the overall experience for users on all supported devices.
The VRM avatar function has evolved so that players can apply their own VRM files not only to the heroine but also to the male partner character. Avatars now switch automatically depending on the scene, and a title screen showcase display has been added. Language support has also grown to eight languages, with Russian, Spanish, and Thai newly added to the existing Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean options. Voice audio remains Japanese only.
To celebrate the first anniversary, the PC version of VR Kanojo is on sale at its biggest discount yet: 35 percent off. The standard 6,200 yen (about $41 / ¥300) price drops to 4,030 yen (about $27 / ¥195) until August 14. The game pairs players with heroine Yuhi Sakura in a “zero-distance” VR romance experience, featuring real-time lighting from all light sources and new shaders, scenes such as the living room, bathroom, and kitchen, and costumes from nurse outfits to bunny suits, several of which were born from fan feedback. Simple controls allow seated play. With hand tracking now in the mix, the anniversary update is a compelling reason for VR fans to revisit Sakura’s world.
