RewindGirl Time-Leap Puzzle Game Lets You Cooperate With Past Selves
RewindGirl is a time-leap action puzzle game starring Wako, a gyaru who gains the ability to rewind time. Her mission is to obtain lavender, an item essential for preventing Earth’s destruction — though the flowers are located in places that are far from easy to reach. The story begins when Wako drinking tapioca milk tea one week ago triggers the collapse of the planet. Together with Mirai, a girl from the future, players must stop humanity’s extinction by ensuring past Wako never takes that sip, whether by halting the train she is riding or arranging for her to catch a cold.
On each stage, time can only be rewound while the crescent moon in the background is moving. Using the ability causes actions performed before the rewind to repeat, and each use adds another Wako to the stage, allowing players to assign different roles to each copy. Clones can press switches to open doors or carry objects while players work toward securing the lavender. Later in the game, lavender is used to stop the train carrying Wako, though the solution proves less straightforward than it first appears.
As stages progress, the puzzles grow considerably trickier. In one example, black monsters step on switches at fixed timings, causing floors and walls to appear and disappear with every press. Players must rewind to the right moment and time their ability to slip through. The time-leap ability can be used up to seven times per stage, and careless spending may leave the player with no charges for the final mechanism. Blocking a path a past self once took, or triggering a switch that drops that past self through the floor, creates a time paradox. The penalty forces the loss of one ability charge and a restart from the last rewind point — or a game over if all seven charges are spent. Stages can also be restarted from scratch when players feel stuck.
RewindGirl is available on PC as a download-only release, published by Besutoman. The game launched on March 7, 2025 at a price of 920 yen including tax, roughly $6.50 (~¥46). It is classified under the action genre and carries no age rating. The title was introduced through Famitsu’s indie spotlight feature, with some details added and revised for the web version. With its quirky premise pairing a fashion-loving gyaru with a girl from the future, the game gives its time-loop puzzle formula plenty of personality. This one is definitely worth a look for fans of clever time-manipulation puzzles.
