Picross S CLIMAX Brings 1,020 Puzzles to Switch on December 10
Jupiter has announced Picross S CLIMAX for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, scheduled to launch on December 10, 2026. The compilation marks the first packaged release in the Picross S series, which had previously been distributed as a download-only line. It bundles 1,020 puzzles selected from all nine entries, from Picross S through Picross S9, alongside bonus content aimed at longtime players. The publisher detailed the game’s modes, pricing tiers, difficulty structure, and control options in its announcement.
Jupiter describes the title as a “best version” of the series, suitable for players picking it up for the first time as well as those who have followed it for years. The packaged edition will be offered only for Nintendo Switch 2 at 3,480 yen (~$23 / ~¥170) including tax, while the download version is priced at 2,980 yen (~$20 / ~¥145) on both Switch 2 and Switch. Puzzles are organized into three difficulty tiers — Easy, Normal, and Hard — so players can choose challenges that match their skill level.
Content is divided across five modes. Standard Picross contains 450 puzzles, Mega Picross adds another 450, Color Picross includes 90, and Clip Picross offers 15, while a large-board mode called Extra rounds out the set with 15 more for a total of exactly 1,020. Series veterans with play data from Picross S through Picross S9 on their Switch console can unlock 40 newly created high-difficulty bonus puzzles. Jupiter notes that these bonus puzzles will not be unlocked if no play data is present on the system.
Picross S CLIMAX supports touchscreen input as well as mouse-style controls using the Joy-Con 2 controller. Button-based play allows up to four players to solve puzzles simultaneously. Background music during puzzles can be freely selected from tracks spanning the series’ history, and a built-in Sound Player lets players listen to their favorite songs at any time. The game carries a CERO A rating, and Jupiter notes that Picross is a registered trademark of Nintendo. For puzzle fans who have stuck with the series, this dense compilation looks like a fitting capstone.
