HoYoverse’s New PC Game Nodas Fall Showcases Distinctive Boss Battles
During the opening event of gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, HoYoverse announced Nodas Fall, a new free-to-play PC action title distinguished by its photorealistic graphics. No release date has been announced yet. Famitsu attended an offline playable trial event for the game, offering an early look at its core structure, playable heroes, and a gauntlet of three boss encounters. The following impressions are based on that hands-on session, providing a first glimpse of what HoYoverse’s latest project has in store for players.
Nodas Fall is primarily a PvE online multiplayer action game. Players form parties of up to four to accept missions, gathering item drops from enemies along the way to strengthen their characters. The trial featured four playable heroes — a Mage, Knight, Archer, and Curser — each equipped with roughly four unique active skills. Notably, the ultimate-equivalent Divine Skill is swappable, allowing players to give an aggressive character healing abilities for added strategic depth. Divine Skills are unlocked by defeating bosses. The trial began on a vast grassland, with travel available on foot or horseback, aided by a guide function that leads players directly to each boss.

The first trial boss, Cleaver Fellstone, is a treant-like wooden monster wielding area attacks and the ability to summon smaller minions, making mob management essential. Mid-fight, a second boss, Qiongqi, crashes in and defeats Cleaver Fellstone, beginning a duel heavy on aerial attacks that proved challenging for melee characters. Qiongqi’s full battle features two distinct phases, with destructible horns and visible appearance changes that reward combat. The final trial boss, Maldrake, is a knight riding a dragon; after taking enough damage, the knight dismounts and players face both, culminating in a duel against an enhanced knight — the trial’s most varied multi-form fight.

Beyond the PvE missions showcased in the trial, the full version of Nodas Fall will add PvP and PvPvE content. Character weapon customization and skill upgrade elements are also planned for release. All three trial bosses displayed meaningful, individualized mechanics — even the visually modest Cleaver Fellstone boasted numerous attack animations and its summoning gimmick — suggesting a strong focus on varied boss design. With the hero roster, swappable Divine Skills, and planned modes, Nodas Fall looks poised to offer considerable build variety. This one is definitely worth watching as HoYoverse’s first major venture into photorealistic PC action.
