Hatsune Miku V6 Reveals New Visual Design and April 14 Release
Crypton Future Media has unveiled the package artwork for Hatsune Miku V6, the upcoming voice synthesis software scheduled for release on April 14, 2026. The company announced that illustrator LAM is responsible for Miku’s new visual design, marking a fresh look for the iconic virtual singer. The software represents the latest iteration in the VOCALOID series, compatible with VOCALOID6 technology and optimized for the VOCALOID:AI voice synthesis engine. Alongside the visual reveal, Crypton also released an English singing demonstration video showcasing the software’s capabilities.
Illustrator LAM has created a new design for Hatsune Miku that balances modern aesthetics with the character’s timeless appeal. According to developer comments from Sasaki Wataru, who has been involved with Hatsune Miku since the original 2007 project, the design was created with future multilingual expansion and engine technology updates in mind. The artwork aims to capture Miku’s essential character while presenting a fresh, contemporary look that feels both simple and sophisticated, cool yet charming, without fitting neatly into any single category.
Hatsune Miku V6 features several technical improvements, including automatic English singing conversion when users input English lyrics. The software includes a demonstration video featuring the commemorative song “Like a Shooting Star” by American music creator Crusher, showcasing the improved natural vocalization possible through generation parameters. The VOCALOID:AI-powered engine has been optimized for better voice synthesis quality, and the package includes the Cubase LE DAW software, allowing users to begin computer-based music production immediately upon purchase.
The software will be available in two editions: a Starter Pack priced at 24,200 yen (~$180) and a Voice Bank edition at 10,780 yen (~$80). Existing users who own previous Hatsune Miku products can purchase at discounted rates of 21,780 yen (~$160) for the Starter Pack and 8,624 yen (~$64) for the Voice Bank. An Early Access version has been available since December 2025, with user feedback incorporated into the final release. The development represents the continuation of the VOCALOID culture that began with the original 2007 software, which sparked a global creative movement. With its improved English capabilities and fresh visual design, Hatsune Miku V6 appears poised to attract both existing fans and new creators to the platform.
