GTA 6 Tops Japan Pre-Order Rankings as Fire Emblem Rises to Second
Famitsu has published the latest weekly pre-order rankings for the video game store at Japan’s leading online retailer, covering the period of August 16-22, 2026. Grand Theft Auto VI maintained its hold on the number one position, while Fire Emblem: Banshi Senko (万紫千紅) secured second place. The complete top 10 list appears at the bottom of the report. The outlet also continues to update rankings in real time for games, strategy guides, manga, anime Blu-rays, and soundtracks.
Grand Theft Auto VI claimed the top spot for the week. The latest entry in the popular crime action series is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Set in the fictional American cities of Vice City and the state of Leonida, the game follows the story of protagonists Jason and Lucia.

The second position belongs to Fire Emblem: Banshi Senko (万紫千紅). The report did not expand on the title’s details, focusing instead on the rankings themselves. Still, its placement in the top two reflects solid pre-order interest among Japanese gamers ahead of the title’s release.
The remaining titles in the top 10 are listed at the bottom of the report, while Famitsu continues to update rankings in real time for games, strategy guides, manga, anime Blu-rays, and soundtracks. GTA 6 holding firm at number one ahead of its November 19 launch is no surprise given the series’ enduring popularity, but Fire Emblem’s rise makes the race for the top worth watching.
