FF7 Revelation Dated April 8, 2027 With New Gameplay and Trilogy Pack
Square Enix revealed during the September 3 State of Play broadcast that Final Fantasy VII Revelation — the third and final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy — will launch on April 8, 2027. The announcement was accompanied by roughly ten minutes of gameplay footage spotlighting new combat sequences featuring Cid and Vincent. Revelation will release simultaneously on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the standard edition priced at 9,900 yen in Japan (~$70 / ¥500). A trilogy bundle packing all three Remake installments was also unveiled at the same event.
Revelation adds Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind to the playable roster as Cloud and his allies’ fight reaches its climax. The battle system, blending real-time action with command selection, introduces the new WEAR system: equipping characters with one of four costume types — Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, or Summoner — shifts their role, abilities, and skills in combat. Footage from the presentation showed how these costumes expand build customization and strategic variety, marking one of the largest evolutions in the trilogy’s battle design.

The airship Highwind allows free traversal of the planet, while chocobo companion Pico grows over time to enhance movement and combat abilities in the field. Players can now switch freely between the controlled character and party members during exploration, and the new Wire Gun action lets them move rapidly across terrain with height differences. Quests also evolve: choosing which specific character handles a job alters the resulting story developments, offering players different narrative outcomes. The popular Queen’s Blood card game additionally gains new story content and systems.

The download-only trilogy edition — bundling Revelation with Remake (2020) and Rebirth (2024) — is available for pre-order at 11,330 yen (~$80), just 1,430 yen above the standard edition price, with the first two titles playable immediately upon purchase. Paid story DLC, including a Sephiroth chapter and a Vincent & Turks chapter, is planned for rollout between winter 2027 and spring 2028. With the finale’s date locked and a full showcase of its expanded systems now public, Revelation looks poised to deliver a climactic send-off to one of JRPG history’s most celebrated trilogies.
