DOTA2 Curio Gallery June Update Brings Four Free Hero Sets
The Curio Gallery event in DOTA2 refreshed on June 5, 2026, introducing four new hero armor sets and ten summer-themed game effects, all available completely free through gameplay. This seasonal event operates on an experience-based progression system identical to previous iterations — players earn XP by playing matches to level up and unlock rewards. Each level requires 1,000 XP, with standard mode granting 650 XP per win and 250 XP per loss, while Turbo Mode offers 425 XP per win and 175 XP per loss. The headline draw remains the Antique chests, which can yield premium items including Arcana and Immortal quality cosmetics, with 12 chests available this season.
Three heroes receive new cosmetics this season. Broodmother’s “Golden Web” set consists of five parts unlocked at levels 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8, with the level 8 “Swift Plague” component changing the appearance of spiderlings. Nyx Assassin’s “Amber Bee” set contains four parts at levels 10, 12, 15, and 18. Venomancer receives a dual-set treatment — the “Vizier” set unlocks across levels 21, 24, 27, and 30, while the “Pestilence Preacher” set requires levels 40, 55, 75, and 100 to complete. Both Venomancer sets include components that modify Plague Ward models, making this a notable update for players who favor summon-based heroes.
Ten summer-themed in-game effects are available through the event, covering popular equipment and ability visuals with a unified seasonal aesthetic. The Antique chests are distributed at milestone levels 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 60, 80, 100, 200, and 300. These chests randomly grant one of over 100 previous hero sets, with a small chance of directly dropping Immortal or Arcana items. The level 5 Antique remains a highlight — it presents five non-duplicating options for players to choose from, offering higher odds for top-tier cosmetics. DOTA Plus subscribers can exchange fragments for XP at a 10:1 ratio as well.
Alongside the Curio Gallery update, DOTA2 patch 7.41d was deployed on the same day, introducing significant balance changes. Popular heroes including Kai, Rubick, and Hoodwink have received nerfs, while several heroes with low pick rates in the previous patch received buffs.
