Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion Hits Switch 2 Today
During the Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 9, 2026, Square Enix announced that Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The downloadable version became available immediately after the program ended, with Square Enix confirming the release the same day. The publisher also launched a commemorative sale offering 30 percent off the downloadable Standard and Digital Deluxe editions until September 23, 2026. The title first appeared in 2007 and has been widely praised for its emotional storyline, which leads directly into the events of Final Fantasy VII.
Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is an action RPG and a spin-off of Final Fantasy VII, with Zack as its protagonist. Square Enix frames his existence as the element that gives birth to Final Fantasy VII, positioning the game as a story that connects to the mainline title. The original 2007 release earned acclaim for its moving narrative, and Reunion revisits that tale for modern hardware. The Switch 2 downloadable version carries a standard price of 5,478 yen (about $37 / ~¥265), while the Digital Deluxe Edition is listed at 8,778 yen (about $59 / ~¥425). During the launch sale, those prices drop 30 percent to 3,834 yen (about $26 / ~¥185) and 6,144 yen (about $41 / ~¥297) respectively. The promotion runs until September 23, 2026 at 23:59, and Square Enix also applied a price revision to the downloadable version.
