Code Vein 2 Ver.2.0 Update and Mask of Idris DLC Arrive September 9

Bandai Namco has announced a substantial free update, Ver.2.0, for Code Vein 2 (噬血代码2), set to release on September 9 alongside the expansion DLC “Mask of Idris.” The publisher describes the update’s content volume as a “second wave of gifts.” Highlights include a new era-based story mode, a boss rush mode, and accessibility improvements, making this one of the title’s most significant post-launch additions so far. The DLC launches on the same day, giving players plenty of new content to dig into.
The update’s centerpiece is the “Fusion Era,” set in the era following the “Miracle of Fate” ending. Each character receives an independent short story, and progressing through them unlocks new blood codes. Players can freely choose which partner to explore the world with, and New Game+ save files can jump directly to this mode using a special “bond.” The mode adds meaningful replay value for those who have already finished the campaign.

“Trials of Remembrance” is a boss rush mode where players consecutively challenge past bosses and enemies in designated stages, earning 90+ boss/enemy-themed customization accessories for collectors. Meanwhile, the “Story Focus Mode” buffs the player character for smoother boss fights and exploration, and can be toggled on or off at any time without affecting the normal experience. Additionally, Jadwiga joins as a summonable partner wielding an aggressive two-handed sword playstyle.

Other additions include a “Legacy” character filter that restores the previous game’s art style, 30+ new photo mode poses and 20+ new frames, and the return of the music box featuring tracks from the previous game and the God Eater series. The “Mask of Idris” DLC, also launching September 9, is set in an “abandoned world” and tells another history-altering story; clearing it unlocks alternate color schemes for all 14 partners. This is a generous free update — collectors and story fans alike should find plenty to enjoy.
