Capcom Shows Life-Size Mega Man Rock Buster at TGS 2026
A life-size, 1/1 scale replica of Mega Man’s iconic Rock Buster is being displayed at Capcom’s booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026, held at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21 (with September 17 and 18 reserved as business days). Described as the only one of its kind in the world, the aluminum arm cannon was built using the latest equipment capable of micron-level precision — one-thousandth of a millimeter — to shape its rounded form. An anodizing treatment both colors the metal and boosts its durability, giving the real-size item a commanding, unmistakable presence on the show floor.
According to the accompanying press release, the Rock Buster is machined from solid aluminum with zero deviation down to one micron. FactorISM (ファクトリズム) contributed its “high-precision cutting technology” for the detailed shaping, while what the release calls the “ultimate blue” anodizing reflects the craftsmen’s dedication. Because metal is notoriously difficult to process into curved surfaces, FactorISM handled everything from design to molding to finish — smoothing the piece at full scale and making each part easy to color so the authentic appearance could be faithfully reproduced.

The coloring relies on anodizing, a treatment that works only on aluminum and enhances both its appearance and its durability. Rather than applying a surface coat, the process permeates the metal with color, so there is no risk of peeling the way paint might — a method commonly used for toys, cosmetics, and outdoor gear. To faithfully reproduce the Rock Buster’s blue, the color was developed from scratch inside the factory, using a proprietary chrome-free electrolytic polishing technique that, in the release’s words, only skilled engineers can achieve.

The display also ties into the series’ future. The next entry, Rockman: Dual Override, is a “dual hero” game in which both Mega Man and the wandering warrior Blues appear as playable characters, each with different abilities and actions to suit different playstyles. Marking the franchise’s 40th anniversary, it is scheduled for release in Spring 2027 across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC platforms. The genre is listed as action, with a CERO rating still under review. For collectors and longtime fans, this full-scale Rock Buster is a striking tribute worth seeing for anyone able to attend.
