AI-Driven Text RPG Saga & Seeker Announced by Dagdoria Studio

Japanese game development studio Dagdoria Studio, known for its “rough, so interesting” philosophy, has officially announced Saga & Seeker, a story-generation game powered by generative AI technology. The game is described as a “pure text RPG” that operates like a tabletop role-playing game or murder mystery party, where improvisation drives the creative play. Unlike traditional adventure games with choice-based mechanics, Saga & Seeker allows players to freely input whatever actions they want to advance the story, creating what developers call a “top-tier story experience game.” The announcement represents a novel approach to interactive storytelling through artificial intelligence.
Saga & Seeker progresses through alternating cycles of AI-generated “story descriptions” and player “action inputs.” Players have complete freedom to decide what to input, and the AI will weave a story based on whatever they choose. This system moves beyond conventional branching narratives, allowing for truly emergent storytelling where the AI responds dynamically to player creativity. The game emphasizes that it’s not about selecting from predetermined options but about expressing intentions through natural language input that the AI then interprets and builds upon.

Players can freely create all characters participating in the story, including both player-controlled characters and NPCs that join the party. Character creation extends beyond stats and skills to include detailed personality traits and speech patterns that the AI will actually reflect during gameplay. Created characters can be exported as “character cards” in HTML or PNG formats for easy sharing. The game also includes crossover characters, with one led by Mr. Kōdō, allowing players to experience combinations of characters that don’t exist in reality.

Each completed mission generates an HTML-formatted “mission log” containing the complete story text including player inputs. These logs can be easily shared with other players and revisited later to relive memorable adventures. The AI also automatically generates unique “skills” and “memories” based on mission content, accumulating distinctive experiences within each character. For players seeking deeper experiences, the game includes functionality to read and play original missions created by others. This AI-driven approach to text-based RPGs could redefine how players engage with interactive narratives.
