70s-Style Robot Anime Get P-X Remaster Launches July 16, 2026
Bliss Brain has announced that the high-definition remaster of ’70s-style Robot Anime Get P-X’ will launch on July 16, 2026. The cult classic 2D shooting game originally released in 1999 for PlayStation will return to modern platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The original game gained legendary status for its extreme dedication to recreating 1970s robot anime aesthetics, using 8,000 hand-drawn frames across four CD-ROMs. The remaster promises to preserve this passion while adding modern quality-of-life features for contemporary players.
The original 1999 release was notable for its unprecedented production scale, featuring 8,000 hand-drawn animation frames that created a four-CD-ROM package. This excessive commitment to recreating 1970s robot anime earned the game its reputation as a ‘legendary strange work.’ The game simulates a complete television anime experience, complete with time announcements, opening sequences, main episodes, commercial breaks, endings, and next-episode previews. Players control three young pilots who combine to form the robot Get P-X, battling the Space Demon Empire in classic mecha anime fashion.
The remaster brings significant technical improvements while preserving the original experience. Animation originally presented at 320×240 pixels and 15fps has been re-digitized from original beta cam tapes and restored to its native 24 frames per second with super-resolution processing. Gameplay remains a side-scrolling shooter where Get P-X transforms between three forms: balanced X1, speed-focused X2 with screen-clearing charged attacks, and power-type X3 with melee specials. New features include rewind functionality, rapid-fire options, quick saves, and a CRT filter mode to recreate the original display experience.
The remaster retains the original 1999 voice cast featuring legendary Japanese voice actors including Akira Kamiya, Show Hayami, Shūichi Ikeda, Ichirō Nagai, and Gorō Naya. Theme and insert songs are performed by anime music legends Isao Sasaki, Akira Kushida, and Hironobu Kageyama. A limited edition priced at ¥8,580 (~$58) includes a reprinted drama CD and art book with production materials, while the standard edition costs ¥4,400 (~$30). Both editions include six extra modes such as movie-version boss rush, alternate story scenarios, and experimental stage arrangements. This comprehensive remaster represents a definitive version of a game that was ahead of its time in celebrating robot anime culture.
