ZELDA NOTES Adds Ocarina of Time Diary, Quests and 2,000-Question Quiz
During the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct broadcast on September 8, 2026, Nintendo unveiled the next addition to its ZELDA NOTES companion service: content for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. ZELDA NOTES, available through the Nintendo Switch smartphone app, currently supports the Nintendo Switch 2 editions of existing Zelda titles, and the new update extends that support to the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time. The presentation detailed several features tied to the classic adventure, including a daily play record, a photo-based scavenger quest, an interactive ocarina performance mode, and a quiz system holding more than 2,000 questions.
The newly shown “Today’s Record” function lets players look back over their day’s session in chronological order. Screenshots captured during play are automatically added to ZELDA NOTES, so the companion app builds a visual timeline without any manual uploading. Alongside those images, players can review a range of data from the session, including the number of enemies defeated. It serves as a straightforward way to revisit exactly how each playthrough unfolded during a given day.
“Rumor Quest” tasks players with using photos displayed on their smartphone as clues to track down the matching locations inside the game. Clearing these quests awards points that can be traded for ocarina song sheets. Those sheets feed into the “Ocarina Performance” mode, where players tap an ocarina shown on the smartphone screen to play melodies. With a song sheet on hand, guided performance and automatic playback become available, and players can also compose their own sheets and share them with others.
The “Ocarina of Time Examination” is a quiz mode built around The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, with difficulty tiers such as Tamago (Egg) class and Kokko (Cucco) class. More than 2,000 questions are recorded in total across the mode. Players can attempt the quiz once per day, though retries are possible by spending Rupees, which can be sent to ZELDA NOTES from within the game itself. For series veterans, this companion update gives the Nintendo Switch 2 rerelease an extra layer of long-term appeal worth checking out.
