Yu-Gi-Oh! Creator Kazuki Takahashi’s First Art Exhibition Announced
Organizers have unveiled full details for “Kazuki Takahashi Art Exhibition YU-GI-OH! ART WORKS,” the first-ever original art exhibition dedicated to Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi. Held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the manga’s serialization, the event will run from December 12, 2026, to February 21, 2027, at CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. The exhibition features more than 370 original manuscripts, color illustrations, and production materials, including never-before-seen rough sketches, organized across five themed chapters that trace Takahashi’s creative world alongside the Yu-Gi-Oh! story. Lottery-based ticket applications open September 14 at 10:00.
The exhibition is designed as a journey through Takahashi’s expressive universe, with visitors first greeted by a giant graphic presenting five themes that symbolize his work. Character-focused areas spotlight the main cast amid a solemn, ancient-ruins-inspired atmosphere, accompanied by original art from iconic scenes. Another area revisits the weekly one-shot games that defined the series’ early days, including the card duels of the Duelist Kingdom and Battle City arcs, with a Millennium Puzzle photo spot representing friendship and the power of unity. A later chapter covers the King’s Memory arc, and the final area showcases color illustrations, OCG card artwork, and materials from the 2016 film The Dark Side of Dimensions, plus Takahashi’s other manga such as DRUMP and THE COMIQ.
Admission tickets are priced at 2,200 yen (~$15) for general visitors, 1,400 yen for middle and high school students, and 900 yen for elementary school students, with limited goods-attached tickets available at a flat 3,900 yen (~$27). Each attendee receives a two-layer sticker bonus that replicates the sensation of a card draw. The goods-attached ticket includes the “Duel King’s Proof,” a collection item featuring the three Egyptian God Cards — Osiris, Obelisk, and Ra — crafted with premium finishes based on their in-story designs. The item will also be sold separately after the exhibition at 1,700 yen (~$12). Lottery applications for December dates run from September 14 to 27, with results announced October 2, followed by first-come sales starting October 10.
Born in 1961 in Tokyo, Takahashi debuted as a manga artist in 1990 before launching Yu-Gi-Oh! in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1996, where it ran until 2004. The series has sold more than 44 million copies, and its in-story card game became the official Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG in 1999, followed by the TV anime adaptation in 2000 and the eighth series, Go Rush!!, in 2025. Takahashi also served as writer and character designer for the 2016 theatrical film The Dark Side of Dimensions. Exhibition-original merchandise ranges from 660 yen to 12,100 yen. With no touring plans announced, this Tokyo-only retrospective is shaping up to be an unmissable celebration for fans of the series.
