Silver Pines Survival Horror Launches October 8, Demo Available Now

Team17 and developer Wych Elm have announced that the atmospheric survival horror game Silver Pines will launch on October 8, 2026, for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The announcement was made at the Horror Game Awards showcase, alongside the immediate release of a free demo for players to experience the game’s unsettling atmosphere firsthand. The title puts players in the role of private detective Red Walker, who arrives in the decaying town of Silver Pines only to receive a mysterious phone call directing him to find someone named Eddie Velvet — setting the stage for a dark journey into the town’s buried secrets.
Set in a seemingly abandoned American town, Silver Pines presents a world that feels hastily deserted by its inhabitants. As private detective Red Walker, players must navigate this eerie environment while uncovering the secrets buried within its nightmare-filled depths. The game’s narrative unfolds through interactions with the town’s suspicious residents, each of whom seems to be hiding something from outsiders. The oppressive atmosphere and lingering sense of dread are central to the experience, with the town’s dark past looming large over every step of the investigation.

Silver Pines combines classic survival horror mechanics with a Metroidvania-style exploration structure. The game employs a distinctive 2.5D perspective, offering a modern take on traditional survival horror gameplay. Players must manage extremely limited backpack space while searching every corner for bullets, medicine, and upgrades. They can choose to fight or flee from the monstrous entities lurking in the town, with each encounter described as dangerous and intense. Locked rooms and hidden passages are scattered throughout the environment, encouraging thorough exploration. The visual presentation blends hand-drawn art with rotoscope animation and neo-noir aesthetics, creating an unsettling yet captivating world.

Wych Elm is a five-person Swedish studio whose core team members previously worked on major titles such as Helldivers 2 and The Darkness, as well as the BAFTA-winning Yoku’s Island Express. Silver Pines represents their next major project. The game is published by Team17 Digital, the company behind the classic Worms series and publisher of acclaimed indie titles including Blasphemous and the Overcooked! series. Founded in 1990, Team17 has published over 140 games and continues to support independent developers through its publishing wing. Silver Pines looks like a promising addition to the survival horror genre when it arrives this October.
