Silent Hill Creator’s Studio Announces New Major Game and Hiring Push

Bokeh Game Studio, founded by Keiichiro Toyama who is widely known as the “Father of Silent Hill,” has announced it is actively developing a “new large-scale game.” The studio revealed this news through an official announcement while simultaneously launching recruitment for core positions. This marks the first major project announcement from the independent studio since their debut title Slitterhead (野狗子) launched in 2024. The announcement comes as Toyama continues his involvement in horror media, having recently contributed to the screenplay for the film Return to Silent Hill which premiered on January 23, 2026.
Keiichiro Toyama is a renowned Japanese game producer, director, and screenwriter celebrated for his groundbreaking horror titles. After graduating from Tokyo Zokei University in 1994, he joined Sony Computer Entertainment in 1999 where he led development on the Silent Hill and Siren series. In 2012, he served as producer for Gravity Rush, which won the Japan Game Awards 2012 Grand Prize. Toyama departed Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2020 and co-founded independent studio Bokeh Game Studio the same year with Kazunobu Sato and Junya Okura.

Bokeh Game Studio’s first project was the action-horror game Slitterhead, which was unveiled in 2021 and released in 2024 across multiple platforms. The game was set in 1990s Hong Kong and incorporated a unique possession combat mechanic where players could take control of various characters and enemies. The studio has now shifted focus to this newly announced large-scale project while maintaining operations and expanding their team through the current hiring initiative for key development roles.

The announcement did not specify platforms, release windows, or gameplay details for the new project, indicating it is likely in early to mid-development stages. The recruitment push suggests Bokeh Game Studio is scaling up production capabilities for what they describe as a “large game.” Given Toyama’s pedigree in horror game design and the studio’s successful debut with Slitterhead, this new project represents a significant development for fans of atmospheric, narrative-driven horror experiences. While details remain scarce, the involvement of the Silent Hill creator ensures this will be a title closely watched by the horror gaming community.
