Alyssa Ashcroft first appeared in Resident Evil: Outbreak (2003) and its sequel Resident Evil: Outbreak File #2. She was introduced as an investigative journalist and a survivor of the 1998 Raccoon City incident. Her storyline involved long-term tracking of Umbrella Corporation’s illegal bio-weapon experiments. Her background as a tenacious reporter positioned her as one of the more grounded protagonists in the series, investigating corporate crimes while trying to stay alive amidst the chaos.
In Resident Evil 9: Requiem, Alyssa appears as the mother of protagonist Grace Ashcroft. Her character model is based on fashion model Kate Delic.
