Hytale Chapter 1 Update Launches in Early Access With Goblin Content

Hypixel Studios and publisher Riot Games have released a new trailer for Hytale’s Chapter 1 update, and the team confirmed that the major version has now officially joined the game’s early access. Hytale is a pixel sandbox RPG, and the first chapter aims to expand its role-playing side with a large batch of hand-designed story dungeons, a brand-new combat system, and world events. The trailer focuses on the core additions of the update, giving players a look at the new gameplay and visual direction.
According to the trailer, Chapter 1 introduces the new biome Ember Valley, the game’s first fully hand-built dungeon called Deepworks Ruins, and a complete multi-phase boss fight against the Goblin Destroyer (Gobliterator). The footage also demonstrates the new runestone ability system, the Goblin Rift world event, and a variety of new items and equipment. These features are presented together to showcase the mechanics and visuals added in the update.

Chapter 1 is built around the goblin faction. Alongside a large number of hostile goblin enemies, the version adds friendly goblin NPCs that players can trade and interact with. The new Goblin Rift world event randomly spawns temporary portals that pour out hordes of goblins and various assembled items. Players can pick up goblin tech such as rocket boots, grappling hook launchers, gliders, and mining drills to expand their exploration options.

On the combat side, Hytale adds a runestone ability system where players equip ability runes and modifier runes to combine skills like fireballs, earth-splitting impacts, and chain hooks. Modifier parts can alter skill trajectories, add bleeding, or split projectiles, while skills consume mana. The update encourages free combat builds with no fixed class restrictions. The headline dungeon relies on a new Encounter Manager system for multi-phase bosses, enemy waves, and dynamic arenas, and this tool is also open to mod creators. Over 100 cosmetic items and new music tracks were added, with hide-and-seek and a mini-game collection planned later. The larger hand-crafted content helps Hytale stand apart from purely procedural sandbox games, and fans of the genre should keep an eye on it.
