Helldivers 2 Reveals TD-110 Maelstrom Tank in New Trailer

Arrowhead Game Studios and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment have unveiled a new trailer for Helldivers 2, introducing a major new vehicle: the TD-110 Maelstrom. The footage invites all Helldivers to get acquainted with the heavily armored unit, which arrives as the centerpiece of the game’s latest version update. The trailer continues the series’ signature Super Earth propaganda style, framed as a humorous advertisement for the “X-UDE Citizen Edition,” complete with the slogan “Every home has a tank, luxury in every detail.” The Maelstrom is available in-game now.
The TD-110 Maelstrom is a heavy infantry fighting vehicle built around composite alloy armor that can withstand both kinetic and plasma weapon fire, balancing mobility with battlefield survivability. Its offensive loadout is split between two stations. Up front, twin triple-barrel Gatling cannons deliver sustained suppression, making quick work of Terminid swarms and light-to-medium Automaton units. At the rear, a missile launch bay carries gunner laser-guided missiles designed for cracking heavy armor and fortified positions. Together, the configuration positions the Maelstrom as a frontline answer to both swarms of smaller enemies and hardened, dug-in targets.

The Maelstrom supports multiple players operating it in distinct roles, with a driver handling mobility and a gunner controlling the weapons, mirroring the coordinated feel of an armored squad pushing forward together. It also carries an on-board smoke screen system that can be deployed when the vehicle comes under concentrated fire. The smoke obscures enemy vision, giving squads a chance to break away from danger and relocate tactically. This toolkit is clearly aimed at the game’s cooperative, four-player structure, where survival often depends on coordinated movement, sustained suppression, and covering fire.

The vehicle arrives alongside the 7.1.0 “Devoid of Liberty” update. During specific major orders, players can call in a prototype stratagem for free on designated planets, and cosmetic content such as skins can later be unlocked through Warbonds. The update also launches the “Democratic Steel Wall” Warbond, adding a tanker armor set, anti-tank equipment, vehicle skins, and various cosmetic accessories. Helldivers 2 is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. For squads that have long relied on one-time stratagems, a persistent armored centerpiece could meaningfully change how they approach planetary liberation.
