Granblue Fantasy Relink Ragnarok Free Edition Launches Today on All Platforms

Cygames has released the free edition of Granblue Fantasy Relink: Ragnarok (碧蓝幻想 Relink 无尽黄昏) across all platforms today, June 18. This free version allows players to experience the early story content from the original Granblue Fantasy Relink along with select playable characters. The full game is scheduled to launch globally on July 9, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC platforms. Alongside the free edition release, Cygames also published a new trailer titled Third Trailer — The Journey So Far, which combines footage from the previous second trailer with new content from the upcoming expansion.
The free edition offers three main modes. In Story Mode, players can experience the opening chapters of Granblue Fantasy Relink, with rewards carryover available to the full version upon completion. Quest Mode features four cooperative missions with cross-platform online support. Completing the first three quests unlocks the Blazing Cerviera’s Light mission, where the newly added Summon system can be used. A Tutorial Mode is also included for learning basic controls and combat mechanics. The free edition uses auto-save only and does not support manual saves, nor can its data be transferred to the full version. Compared to the beta test, Cygames has reduced the HP and attack power of the Ruby Golem boss, added playable character Siegfried, updated the main menu artwork, and improved matchmaking stability.

Granblue Fantasy Relink: Ragnarok is a large-scale expansion of the original game. Players must clear the quest Convenient Shop Scroll — Black Silver Wings Soaring Through the Skies (the Proto-Bahamut boss battle) to unlock the CHAOS difficulty level and access the new story content. Once the expansion’s story is progressed and Summon Stones are obtained, the Summon system becomes available in quests on CHAOS difficulty or higher. A new single-player mode called Chaos Realm will also be introduced. Its first floor unlocks through a side quest in the city of Seedholm, available during Chapter 6 of the main story before traveling to Dali Island. Further progression through the main story and quests unlocks the second and third floors, with deeper floors requiring progress in the expansion’s own story content.

The expansion adds six new playable characters with different unlock methods. Beatrix and Eustace can be obtained using character unlock tickets at Siero’s Shop, with additional ticket acquisition routes added. Ghandagoza and Makiraphila require exclusive character unlock tickets obtainable through progressing HARD difficulty quests during Chapter Ø of the original game. Frau and Fideel are unlocked by advancing through Granblue Fantasy Relink: Ragnarok’s story. Additionally, the base Granblue Fantasy Relink game will receive a major update on the same day as the expansion’s launch, including overall balance adjustments, new side quests, and various quality-of-life features. Full patch notes will be released on July 8, one day before launch. This is a substantial content drop for players who have been waiting to dive back into the skies of Granblue.
