Free Rhythm Game Dopa Natsu Lets You Drum Summer Beats on PC Keyboard
Game creator Asumaro has released a new free title, Dopa Natsu (ドパ夏), on the Japanese web game platform unityroom. The game, which went live on August 2, is described as a rhythm session game that has players hammering the left and right portions of their keyboard in time with the music. Set on a flashy live stage backed by intense summer rock tracks, the title invites players to slam their PC to the beat they feel instinctively. Despite its simple controls, the game offers plenty of visual and mechanical variety as play continues.
The controls could not be simpler: the right side of the keyboard plays a Do sound and the left side plays a Pa sound. Players can choose their favorite sounds, or select multiple at once and enjoy combining different tones, effectively turning their keyboard into a personal rhythm toy. During sessions, players alternate between the two keys in time with the beat, and as the Dopa Natsu gauge fills up, each unlock changes the on-screen animation or kicks the game into double speed. The low barrier to entry makes it approachable, while the unlock system keeps the action feeling fresh.
Clearing performances rewards players with Dopa Natsu Points, which can be used to purchase tracks or cast votes for favorite songs. All player votes are pooled into an in-game popularity ranking, and supporting the music you love is highlighted as one of the game’s key charms. The combination of earning, buying and voting adds a light progression layer on top of the core rhythm gameplay. It is a simple loop, but one that gives each session a goal beyond just hitting keys.
Dopa Natsu will appear as a playable demo at Tokyo Game Dungeon 13 on August 8, alongside Asumaro’s previous work Bishoujo Ukiyo-e-shi – HOKU. Developed by Asumaro and mogu, the game offers roughly 10 minutes of play per session. The developer notes that the volume can be adjusted but suggests turning it up slightly louder than usual for maximum enjoyment, joking that players should prepare replacement eardrums. Live commentary and reviews are welcomed. With its free price tag, two-key controls and energetic summer rock tunes, this compact rhythm title looks like an easy pick for fans wanting a quick seasonal distraction.
