Fire Emblem Switch 2 Direct Unveils Three-Tier Job Class System
On August 4, 2026, Nintendo broadcast a Direct presentation for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 title Fire Emblem (ファイアーエムブレム 万紫千紅). During the program, the game’s job class system was revealed, organized into three tiers: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. According to the broadcast, a character’s abilities — including the weapons they can wield, movement range, and unique traits — are determined by the class they currently hold. The announcement offers the first detailed look at how class progression will shape tactical gameplay.
The beginner tier features five classes in total. Among them are the Fighter (闘士), a class specialized in weapon handling; the Curse Master (呪い師), which can use magic; and the Flying Camel Rider (飛駝兵), which offers a wide movement range. The intermediate tier expands to more than ten classes, including the Heavy Armored Infantry (重装歩兵) with ironclad defense, the Sky Wing Soldier (天翼兵) capable of jumping over obstacles, and the Charioteer (戦車兵), which sweeps away enemies in a straight line.

The advanced tier presents a diverse selection of roles. The Cataphract (カタフラクト) combines mobility and defensive power, while the Guardian (ガーディアン) specializes in spears and white magic. The War Elephant Soldier (戦象兵) brings overwhelming strength to the battlefield, and the Dragoon (ドラグーン) fights while riding a dragon. Together, these classes point to a wide range of tactical possibilities for late-game progression.

The class system appears central to character growth in Fire Emblem, with tiered progression affecting both combat style and battlefield mobility. No release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 title has been announced so far. The screenshots accompanying the report were captured directly from the broadcast footage. With this much class variety on display, the title looks set to deliver plenty of strategic depth for series fans.
