Dragon Quest 11 S Switch 2 Edition Offers 1080p/60fps or 1440p/30fps
Square Enix has revealed the performance specifications for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition (勇者斗恶龙11：寻觅逝去的时光-决定版). The upcoming port will feature two distinct graphics modes, giving players a choice between higher frame rates or enhanced visual fidelity. The Switch 2 port marks the latest chapter for this critically acclaimed JRPG, which has previously been available across multiple platforms since its original release.
According to Square Enix, the Switch 2 edition will offer a Performance mode running at 1080p with 60 frames per second, and a Quality mode targeting 1440p at 30 frames per second. The company has not yet clarified whether these specifications apply to both handheld and docked modes, or if they are exclusive to docked play. Previous reports indicate that the Switch 2’s built-in screen supports a maximum native resolution of 1080p.
Dragon Quest 11 has previously launched on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the original Nintendo Switch. The arrival of the Definitive Edition on Switch 2 further expands the game’s reach on Nintendo’s next-generation handheld console. The game originally launched in Japan in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and later received an enhanced version featuring additional story content, orchestral soundtrack options, and quality-of-life improvements.
The choice between 1080p/60fps and 1440p/30fps ultimately comes down to personal preference whether players prioritize smoother gameplay or sharper visuals. For a turn-based JRPG like Dragon Quest 11, the 30fps Quality mode may appeal to those who value visual clarity, while action-oriented players may lean toward the 60fps Performance mode. Whichever option they choose, Switch 2 owners will soon have another major RPG to add to their library.
