Dawnwalker Sees 1.5 Million Wishlists as Free Small DLC Plans Emerge

Rebel Wolves, the studio behind the upcoming vampire-themed RPG Dawnwalker, has confirmed plans for post-launch content despite having yet to announce any official expansions. In an interview with PAP Biznes, CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz revealed that the development team is actively working on a roadmap for future updates. While the studio is currently focused on polishing the game for its September launch, Tomaszkiewicz stated that a schedule for small free DLC is being planned, though no final decisions have been made yet regarding timing.
According to Tomaszkiewicz, the planned DLC may not necessarily include story expansions. Instead, the content is likely to focus on cosmetic and functional items such as costumes, hairstyles, and new weapons. This approach mirrors the model used in The Witcher 3, a title Tomaszkiewicz previously served as game director on. The strategy aims to provide players with ongoing freshness without diverting the development team’s focus away from refining the core experience.

Tomaszkiewicz has already begun conceptualizing potential sequels set in different time periods and cultural settings, but the greenlighting of a follow-up will depend entirely on Dawnwalker’s commercial performance. He stated that the target is for the studio to have enough remaining funds after launch to support development on a sequel. He emphasized that a key priority for Rebel Wolves is to create a safe harbor where creativity can be rewarded.

Publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has not disclosed pre-order figures, but Tomaszkiewicz expressed satisfaction with pre-sales performance. He highlighted that the approximately 1.5 million wishlists on the PC platform serve as a more reliable indicator of interest, noting that players tend to wait for detailed reviews before committing to purchases. Dawnwalker is scheduled to launch on September 3rd for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. The combination of strong wishlist numbers and a promising free DLC strategy positions this title as one to watch for RPG enthusiasts.
