CODE VEIN II Mask of Idris DLC Launches September 9 with Free Update

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced on September 2 that CODE VEIN II, the dramatic exploration RPG currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, will receive its expansion DLC “Mask of Idris” on September 9. A free Ver. 2.0 update, arriving the same day, and a story recap video for the base game were also unveiled. The DLC presents another story of crossing time to change history, set in an abandoned world where the emotions of people from worlds fading amid rewritten history gather. Players will explore alongside new characters in another battle to save the world.
To play Mask of Idris, players must have reached the second ending, “Harmony Moon,” or load a save that already has; those inheriting a qualifying save on New Game Plus need not reach it again. They must also complete “A Friend’s Request: Valentin” through the mission “Exchanging Views with Valentin: The Book of Magmel Island,” and New Game Plus players must advance to that point once more. Clearing the DLC story unlocks alternate-color partner characters, including newcomer Lu, for 14 color variants total. These partners persist in save data across replays, letting players explore with any preferred companion regardless of era.

The free Ver. 2.0 update adds the Harmony Era, content playable after the ending “A Miracle Called Fate.” Every character gains a short story, with progression granting new blood codes, and players may choose any partner for world exploration. From a qualifying save, a special bond appearing in modern Magmel transports players there; on New Game Plus runs, touching a special bond advances the story directly to the playable era, though any story skipped cannot be re-read during that run. Trials of Remembrance adds special stages with consecutive battles against past bosses and enemies, rewarding over 90 boss- and enemy-themed customization parts.

Partner Jadwiga becomes summonable after her story in the Harmony Era, wielding a two-handed sword one-handed with an aggressive co-op style. Story-First Mode strengthens the player character to ease boss fights and exploration and can be toggled anytime. A character shader option switches between the default “Original” and “Legacy,” which reproduces the visual style of the first CODE VEIN. Photo mode adds over 30 new poses, over 20 new frames, body-type options, and larger position adjustments, while a returning Jukebox plays select music from CODE VEIN, CODE VEIN II, and the God Eater series. A base-game story recap video is also available now. With such a substantial free update arriving the same day, September 9 looks like a busy one for fans.
