Beast of Reincarnation Out Now, New Characters and Details Revealed
Game Freak’s new action RPG Beast of Reincarnation launched on August 4, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Publisher Hapinet, in partnership with Fictions, handled the PS5 package edition, while digital versions are distributed by Fictions. Alongside launch day, new character details were unveiled, introducing Mikoto, a fragile-looking boy voiced by Akira Ishida, and Shidou, a mysterious man voiced by Satoshi Mikami. The single-player title carries a CERO C rating. Launch celebrations include a live stream from the gaming group SANNINSHOW and transit advertising across Tokyo.
Mikoto is described as a gentle boy with a fleeting, fragile air. Like protagonist Emma, he is a defiled person, seeking the knowledge needed to save his homeland and searching for “Amber” in the outside world. Shidou wears the same purification soldier uniform as Emma and appears to watch her movements, though his true purpose remains shrouded in mystery; his face is hidden beneath a straw hat, concealing a deep-seated obsession. The announcement also revealed a silent purification ship carrying a human soul within it. This vessel serves as a mother ship supporting Emma’s journey, able to detect corrosion bodies and danger while providing a place of respite on the road to the capital.

Set in Japan in the year 4026, after the collapse of the world, Beast of Reincarnation follows Emma, shunned as a “defiled person,” and her companion Kuu, a corrosion dog. Together they journey to the far west to defeat the Beast of Reincarnation, the source of the defilement spreading across the land. Combat fuses Emma’s real-time action with Kuu’s command-based strategy, and defeating giant enemies lets both unlock abilities and master various combat styles. The cast also features an immortal king who has ruled the capital, humanity’s last hope, for over a thousand years. After many defeats against the Beast, he finds hope in Emma and orders her to slay the approaching beast.
Launch-day festivities included a live stream by SANNINSHOW, a gaming group marking its 15th activity anniversary in 2026, hosted at 8:00 PM on August 4. Transit ads began airing August 3 across Tokyo on the Yamanote Line, Tokyo Metro lines, and signage at Tokyo, Shinjuku, and Akihabara stations. The PS5 package edition is priced at 8,980 yen (about $60, ~¥430), while the digital Standard Edition costs 7,980 yen (about $53, ~¥380) and the Digital Deluxe Edition 8,980 yen. The package version includes a product code granting Emma’s equipment and a Kuu skin. Text supports 11 languages, including Simplified and Traditional Chinese, with Japanese and English voice options. With Game Freak’s pedigree as the creator of Pokémon behind it, this new action RPG is one to keep an eye on.
