Ball x Pit Final Update ‘The Naturalist’ Brings Biggest Discount Sale
Devolver Digital-published brick-breaker roguelite Ball x Pit received its final free update, “The Naturalist,” on August 7, 2026. The update introduces two new characters, 11 new balls, and five new passive skills. To mark the occasion, the game is currently on sale at 34% off across all platforms — its largest discount yet — though the sale end date varies by platform. Originally released on October 16, 2025, Ball x Pit is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, blending block-breaking action with roguelite progression and build crafting.
In Ball x Pit, players fend off hordes of enemies approaching via auto-scroll while attacking with balls that bounce off the left, right, and rear walls. Enemies appear as blocks in shapes such as L and T, and some nullify frontal attacks, forcing players to reflect balls to land hits. Reaching the deepest area triggers a boss battle, during which players retreat along their path while fending off the boss. Balls come in many varieties, including those that inflict status effects like fire, ice, and poison, as well as laser and chain lightning options that strike multiple enemies at once. Passive skills can boost stats such as HP and movement speed or summon soldiers to fight alongside the player.
Defeating enemies drops gems, and collecting a set number triggers a level-up that raises stats and grants new balls and passives. Each level-up offers a choice among three options, with up to four balls and four passives equippable at a time. Collecting multiple copies of the same ball enhances its performance, and combining two fully enhanced balls unlocks special upgrades including Fusion, Evolution, and Split. Fusing a chain lightning ball with a poison ball, for instance, creates a “chain poison” effect, while combining a vertical laser ball with a horizontal one produces a cross-shaped laser. When Fusion and Evolution are unavailable, Split randomly enhances one equipped ball or item instead.
Blueprints obtained during runs allow players to construct facilities at their base, such as barracks that welcome new allies and buildings that improve character stats. Base land can be expanded for a fee, making it easier to gather construction resources. Ball x Pit is a download-only title published by Devolver Digital and rated IARC 12+. The Nintendo Switch and PC versions are priced at 1,700 yen (~$11 / ¥80, tax included), the PlayStation 5 version at 1,760 yen (~$12 / ¥83), and the Xbox Series X|S version at 1,750 yen (~$12 / ¥83), with Xbox Game Pass support confirmed at the time of writing.
